Remember in November: Which Piccillo? Pelosi Candidate Flips and Flops on the Issues

Press Release

Date: Oct. 18, 2010
Location: Brooksville, FL
Issues: Elections

What is the surest sign of a fledgling campaign? A candidate who changes his opinions every time he speaks in public. The Democrat nominee for Congress in Florida's 5th District, continues to alter his position in an effort to mask his liberal beliefs.

From tax increases to healthcare to earmarks, Piccillo does not have a consistent view on any of these issues. On one survey, Piccillo wrote that he believed that taxes should be increased[1]. Now he believes that the Obama tax increases should not be passed[2].

When ObamaCare was passed Democrats praised this plan as a great accomplishment for America. Jim Piccillo, on numerous occasions has said he would support the plan. But once again, Piccillo has been swept up by the change in the political winds and is now supporting the repeal of the healthcare bill[3]. He has even changed his view on a single payer option, previously stating that he would not have included a single payer option[4] but in a recent article he said he would have supported the addition[5].

Earmarks, the process of hiding spending legislation for pet projects in routine legislation, is not immune to the changing views of Jim Piccillo. At a candidate forum Piccillo stated that he would support the elimination of this spending method[6] but now he states he would be in favor of earmarks[7].

"People are fed up with Washington," stated Rich Nugent, "and politicans' desire to play politics with the voters. We need to get this country back on track and politics as usual is not going to get us there. We need someone who will stand-up to the reckless policies of Obama and Nancy Pelosi, not someone who will say whatever they think people want to hear. We have had candidates elected who have done that and our country is worse off for electing these people."
